The history of the wines and vineyards of Montagne and Saint-Georges Saint-Emilion
Created by Grand Master Founder Louis Yerles, the Association was baptized on Friday, May 29th 1981 at the church of St Martin in Montagne with the benediction of L’Abbe Laubry. Under the church’s Romanesque arches, the priest read a passage from the Gospel of St John concerning the wedding at Carna, where Jesus performed the miracle of turning water into wine.
The Grand Council of the Association is made up of sixty members, with the Grand Master at the head of the fifteen founder members, the Ambassadors and the Honourable Winemakers. They are charged with promoting the values and qualities of the Appellations Montagne St Emilion and St Georges St Emilion.
Annual events include the Flower Festival, which celebrates the flowering of the vines. It is at these celebrations that customers, friends and wine lovers are inducted into the Association. It is then their role to promote and proclaim the values and qualities of the wines of Montagne St Emilion and St Georges St Emilion.
